Are you a startup founder and still not sure if you should use Webflow for your marketing website? I have collected 4 common myth about Webflow and debunked these in this article to hopefully help you make a better decision.
Webflow is my platform of choice for developing websites for startups. However as a founder you might not be very familiar with the platform yet and might have a few questions which I want to answer in this blog post. More specifically I am debunking 4 myths regarding the Webflow vs Wordpress debate. Let's go!
Not necessarily. Just because "everyone" seems to use it, doesn't mean it is right for your particular project. Depending on the requirements and needs of your website, you'll need to choose the right platform for you. If you are looking at developing a marketing website for your product or a corporate site directed at investors, Webflow is a great choice. The platform makes it easy to update content yourself and doesn't require extensive backend maintenance. I'll talk more about this later in this article.
There is actually a great community of people using Webflow, who are always happy to help out – especially online. There is of course the very helpful official Webflow Forum, as well as various Facebook groups such Webflow Designers (Global). In addition to this, in many cities around the world you will find an official Webflow meetup group – for instance I run the Webflow meetup group in Perth, Australia. Here you can connect with other Webflow users either online or offline. Also, with Webflow's popularity rising – especially in the startup space – there are more and more Designers working with the tool and offering their services.
Hosting with Webflow might be more expensive than other hosting providers out there who offer hosting-only services. However there are definitely several advantages compared to hosting the site elsewhere, which in turn can save you quite a bit of money as well. With Webflow you don't have to take care of any plugin or security updates, and website backups are also already taken care of. Plus you can make content updates yourself (including writing new blog/news posts or updating copy on your site). This saves you money as you don't have to sign up for a maintenance contract with an agency or occupy your team members' time with these tasks.
Quite the opposite is the case here. Webflow uses the so called "Webflow Editor" which allows you to log into your account and easily change images and text, as well as add new content through the Webflow CMS (content management system). This could be new blog posts, news articles, press releases, team members on your "about" page or any other content that needs to be changed frequently on your site.
